Shrimp boats revisited
Posted in General Stuff on December 24, 2010 by Wade HendersonOver a year ago (Sept 2009) I posted a photograph of three shrimp boats sitting in harbor in Georgetown, SC. At the time I made the photo, I did a three shot set of them (and several other things I shot that day) with the intention of trying HDR some day when I learned more about it and knew how to do it. I have finally started playing with HDR on some of those multiple shot sets. Here are those shrimp boats revisited in HDR.

Thoughts on medium format
Posted in General Stuff on December 22, 2010 by Wade HendersonI can’t say I agree with everything he says, but I agree with more than I disagree with. I’ve always loved working in that format.

Mamiya Announces $1,000 Trade-in Program for the New
RZ33 Medium Format Digital Camera
I have the RB I can trade in… Then again, what would I do with my lenses and extra film backs… Hmmmmm.
Oh well, keep throwing my change into my change jar. Let’s see… $10.43. I’m getting there.
Mamiya RZ
Posted in General Stuff with tags Mamiya, RZ33 on June 7, 2010 by Wade HendersonThe classic medium format camera is being re-issued in 33 MP digital splendor. I am in lust!! Time to start saving my pennys. This might take a while. I used to use the film version of that camera when I worked in the studio and I own an RB-67 which is a more manual version of this camera with less bells and whistles. I have always loved the quality of the optics and the bonus of that 6×7 frame.
Lets see… if I start saving now, I can probably get one for my 150th birthday… OK, maybe it won’t take me quite that long.

Quick update
Posted in General Stuff on January 9, 2010 by Wade HendersonI have been neglecting this blog for quite a while. The last time I checked in here, only a couple of people had found this blog and they seemed to read it once and went away. Apparently, more folks have found it now. If any of you check back, please know that I will get back to the blog before long. I have some things in the works that have taken much of my energy and have me kind of mentally scattered right now. Hopefully I’ll be back to it very soon.

My wife drags me places occasionally that I don’t want to go… until I get there. That is the case with our latest adventure. She had been talking for several weeks about going down to Georgetown to find the historic district. I imagined something like the area we had already explored a couple of months ago. Nice, but just a residential area with nothing much to photograph.
Now, my experience up until now with Georgetown was just what you see cruising down Hwy 17 from our home in Myrtle Beach on our way to Charleston. Not much to see. Just another medium sized town along the South Carolina coast.
My wife had been percolating this idea for weeks and I had done my best to stall it. Week before last, she got her hair cut. While she was carrying on the requisite conversation with the lady cutting her hair, she found out the hairdresser was from… you guessed it. Georgetown. My wife started talking about wanting to go down and spend some time exploring and photographing the historic area of town. Of course the woman was happy to talk about it and directed us to Front St.
Front St. is like something out of an old movie. My favorite part of the area is the Harborwalk. It is a boardwalk that goes along the harbor. There are signs about every 40 feet or so warning you not to feed the Alligators. It is illegal, and honestly NOT a good idea anyway. The boardwalk is lined with shops, restaurants and bars. It turned out to be a great day wandering around photographing.
Our last act of the day there in Georgetown was to stop at the Coffee Break coffee shop. This time of year we like iced coffees. Coffee Break has great ones. Highly recommended if you happen to be down that way.
